Step One - Registering
To become a jobseeker on JobCafe simply select Signin. A registration form will appear asking for the following details ...
- Your first and last name
- A contact phone number
- Your current location i.e Wellington
- Your desired location i.e Auckland
- Your email address
- An area for you to define your own password
- A prompt confirming that you are happy to receive emails from the site
- Details of how you found out about JobCafe
Once this section has been completed you will then be provided with a list client and community talent pools that you can join by linking your Jobseeker profile to them.
After your details have been recorded a Jobseeker profile is created and displayed in a new window. The details entered during the registration
process forms the Profile Summary.
Step Two - Building your Profile
Once you have registered on JobCafe a wealth or information can be entered about you marketing your skills and experience to potential employers. Details include ...
Photo
Add a photo of yourself to your profile. Some people are better at remembering faces than names - make it easier for potential employers to identify and remember YOU.
Experience
Our talent pool is designed around skills matching/searching so it is incredibly important that work experience and vocational skills have been included in your profile. A profile must include an experience or skill to be matched to employers posted jobs.
History
This is where you detail your work history (list your most recent appointments at the top). We recommend detailing the last 5 years of employment, older work experience can still be tracked but we suggest limiting these entries to a condensed format i.e. position held, employer, years in the role.
Education
Detail your relevant qualifications, remember to include where you studied and what qualification was obtained.
Statement
Detail the type of work opportunity you are interested in securing i.e you may be interested opportunites that would see you moving more into management, a role that requires less travel, or something that allows you a little more flexibilty in your work week.
Personal Interests
This is an opportunity for you to tell potentail employers a little more about yourself i.e. any interests, sports, community groups you may be involved with.
References
The name and contact details of a recent employer or client that can vouch for you.
Mailing Lists
If you are interested in receiving email notification of employment opportunities available in JobCafe there are a number of location specific mailing listing that you can join.
I Want To … Generate CV
Generates a CV from your profile that can be printed. Options include the ability to export the CV and save it as an Excel or Adobe (PDF) file.
Once your profile is complete you can use Home to see employment opportunities that match your experience and skills.
Step Three - Applying to Jobs
When you have a Jobseeker profile in JobCafe any employment opportunities that match the experience and skills in your profile are displayed under the heading Your Jobs.
To view the job description simply click on the jobs title. To apply to the job either ...
- Click on the reply email address listed in the jobs description.
- Or, use the email option available from the Apply For This Job section.
Complete the email generated from the talent pool to the job poster and send it via your normal mail service.
The job poster will contact you directly regarding your application.
Please be aware that our clients may request you become a member of either JobCafe or their own customised talent pool as part of their application process.
